Since it is supposed to be the day of the antichrist, I thought I’d delve into the topic of Satanism, it is something probably rarely discussed or even taken seriously. It is interesting from a philosophical perspective,

Baphomet.gifSatanism conjures up images of strange rituals where demons and humans make pacts for power over others, or material wealth. The majority of those who call themselves Satanists do not actually believe or worship any being called Satan. Instead, the most organised Satanists revel in indulgence, human instinct and passions. It is more a philosophy of life than a religion as such.

The Nine Satanic Statements from LaVey’s “The Satanic Bible”

1. Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence!
2. Satan represents vital existence, instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom, instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it, instead of love wasted on ingrates!
5. Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek!
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires!
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all fours, who,
because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development, has become the most vicious animal of all!
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
9. Satan is the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

How many of us are Satanists without knowing it? Anyone who has a corrupt moral code and is only out for themselves could be considered a Satanist.

Satanism is a term often used by religious fanatics against heavy metal performers and anyone else who doesn’t conform to their religious ideas, especially Wiccans and other Pagans and occultists. Marilyn Manson has been accused of being a Satanist, but the statement of this Christian sounds a little like satanic statement five (Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek):

According to Róbert Szikora, a prominent Christian musician with rock group R-GO, was quoted by the tabloid Színes Bulvár as saying: “If I see him in the street I might put aside my Christianity and smack him in the mouth with a stick.”

Of the most interest is how the followers of various religions, such as Christianity but not limited to it, have defined moral codes that they rarely stick too unless it suits them. Could we call it Satanism in disguise? At least those who practice Satanism stay true to their beliefs and morals and won’t put it aside when it suits them.

There are Satanists who do not simply follow the philosophy, and take a more literal approach. Theistic Satanists actually do worship and believe in Satan. This form of religion may be associated with magical rituals in which the worshipper may choose to practice. Basically, the theistic Satanist will have a very individual religion based on the many ideas, philosophy and imagery of Satanism.

Whether the Statist practices are simply philosophical or of the theistic and more ritualistic kind, both are a unique form of religion. It provides a contrast from which to learn from especially for those people who adopt a religion but never walk the talk.

Do you come to this bar often? Pull up a chair while I pour you a reality cocktail;

For the past seven years I've heard much talk of the need to unite Satanists under the common banner of Satan, to raise money for legal defense funds, to put out material that will help everyone understand what Satanism is, to start community outreach programs, to set up funds to loan organizations to build local churches. These are noble ambitions, but in the year 2003, it has the similitude of "putting the cart before the horse."

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Satanism has a *major problem* with its core constituency and until this problem is resolved, we will see no social progress or movement forward.

My perspective is that of a Satanist who has been on the scene since 1970, made TV and radio appearances and communicates with dozens of Satanists from around the world on a daily basis. Although there are those who have staked their lives and reputations on being public Satanists, the vast majority are self-loathing individuals who anonymously creep onto the internet, beat their chests with fanfare and bravado, give the *appearance* of being emancipated, then quietly slink back into the shadows once they step away from the keyboard. Should one of these poseurs encounter the genuine article; a self-aware, self-confident, articulate spokesperson, the exchange is often unpleasant. Can you reason why? It reminds me of the LaVeyan who wanted to become a "legitimate" Satanist, so he mails his one-hundred dollars, receives his membership card and declares, "That's funny, I don't feel like a god." So he proceeds to bash and bully those Satanists he feels inferior to, so he can maintain his illusion of superiority.

The bad news is, the Satanic movement is awkwardly paranoid and self-destructive. Using the aforementioned wish list, let's say we were to create a Satanic legal defense fund. I'm sure many would like to contribute to such a cause, but their own cowardice would stop them since it might jeopardize their employment prospects should their generosity become public knowledge. And then, there are those who view Satanism as a philosophy of brutal selfishness with no consideration towards others - they cannot grasp the concept of rational self-interest and therefore would not contribute, even though it would ultimately benefit them! Using current conditions as a model, it may take twenty to thirty years to raise enough money to launch you first civil case!!!

For years I've heard them say, "Let's form a committee and give these group leaders equal power. That would create an atmosphere of Unity and cease the endless bickering!" Well, let me pour you another drink. This approach has already been tried and it failed consistently each time. In fact, the situation became much worse. This is not the way to achieve comradery within the Satanic movement. The focus should be on the individual, not the collective. Satanists must achieve Unity within themselves before they can achieve Unity with each other. If you focus on the microcosm, the macrocosm will follow.

And so I have a message for the vainglory High Priests and Black Popes of Satanism; you say you want power? You shall have power! Simply address the real life needs and concerns of your core constituents and they will exalt you in return. Life is give and take; what you put into it is proportional to what you get out of it. Persevere and your long term goals will have enthusiastic support.

This is a quote from something Lord Egan wrote in a transcript I found on the www.churchofsatan.org website. Will this initiate me into the worship ring of Satan? Following this, will I become a full blown Satanist? I am not doubting Lord Egan in any way so no one take offense, I am just trying to understand. Does this mean that I have power to bargain with satan in exchange for my soul? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

John Allee (aka Lord Egan) responds:

I will post the article I wrote again. What I was trying to explain is that your "will to believe" in something can affect who you are! As far as making a pact with Satan goes, the dark mother gave birth to you. You cannot bargain with something you do not own!

In the following example, I was simply using my ingenuity to free Mr. Taylor's soul from the machinations of subjective enslavement:

It was the year 1990 CE. My 21 year old protégé, Mr. Taylor, came to me and complained of feeling uncomfortable and fearful with regard to assuming a Satanic "identity" or label. I interrogated him about these inhibitions and was able to draw two conclusions:

1.) Intellectually, there was total acceptance, agreement. He had a grasp of the philosophy which exceeded the primer Satanic Bible comprehension level.

2.) Emotionally, there was conflict. "I was raised a catholic," he would often whine plaintively. (The right and left hemispheres of the brain are in obvious disagreement here.')

With this being the case, I had one last question for this young man; "Would you like to be set free from these religious feelings?" The answer was a resounding, "Yes."

Foolishly, I fell into the trap of using Reason. It didn't work. Mr. Taylor was quick to point out that I was wasting my time. He realized that these emotions were illogical and irrational. Understand that we are not dealing with a mere perceptual problem or subjective delusion (that fleeting, foolish fancy that dissipates in the light of clear objective analysis). What we have here is a belief system - a series of long held precepts which cannot be "rationalized away."

Eureka!! Finally it came to me. Very quickly, I began looking for my calligraphy pen and a good piece of parchment. I began writing;

"In the name of Satan, Lucifer, Belial & Leviathan and in the company of Astaroth, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Abbadon & Azazel, & by all the demons named and nameless who swarm the Pits of Hell, I do happily sell my soul to the Devil, Satan-Lucifer, in exchange for..." Well, you get the picture. I plucked the finished product down on a table in front of him.

"Sign this. Here's a red pen."
"Don't I have to cut myself?"
"That won't be necessary. Sign it."

Mr. Taylor was hesitant to say the least! He sat there for several moments, silent with frozen wrist. Finally, he stammered "B-but... this is... n-nonsense." To which I replied, "That's a very astute observation. Now, why not humor me and sign it?"

The minutes crawled by. You could almost hear his teeth chattering. Never underestimate the power of myth!! Watching the clock, I noticed that a full half-hour had gone by. At long last, through sheer effort of Will, the pact was completed with the required signature. Mr. Taylor was extremely tired.

In the days that followed, I began to see a change - a metamorphosis, if you will. Thereafter, whenever Taylor expressed guilt or attempted to suppress his ego, I would gleefully whip out the parchment, hold it up to him and exclaim, "It really doesn't matter 'cause you're going to hell anyway!" A great big smile would come across the young man's face. Reason would make it all seem so very foolish. And yet, the Subjective Mind was listening!!

The aforementioned "conflict of interest" soon vanished! His Will was unified! The results were permanent. Ironically, it is not the conscious "rational" mind which restricts and inhibits the Will of the magician, it is the mystical "irrational" mind. To quote a personage known as Shuti;

"Gnosis and reason squabble here... if this is the case, then why don't we exercise this (absolute) power? Gnosis rationalizes that it's because we haven't learned to flex the muscle yet, or because some psychological force (emphasis mine) within this as-yet faulty mind of mine refuses to accept my power. Reason claims it's more likely the power doesn't exist."

The explanation has greater depth and width. The "psychological force(s)" mentioned exist within the realm of one's subjective mind - a mind which does NOT recognize reason. It is a mind which recognizes only symbols & symbolic gestures. Therefore, practically speaking, you cannot use reason to prove or disprove mysticism. Oil and water, my friends, oil and water!

The Nine Sins of the Earth

Stupidity --

The top of the list for Sins of the Earth. It's too bad that stupidity isn't painful. Ignorance is one thing, but our society thrives increasingly on stupidity. It depends on people going along with whatever they are told. The media promotes a cultivated stupidity as a posture that is not only acceptable but laudable.We must learn to see through the tricks and cannot afford to be stupid.

Pretentiousness --

Empty posturing can be most irritating and isn't applying the cardinal rules of Lesser Magic. On equal footing with stupidity for what keeps the money in circulation these days. Everyone's made to feel like a big shot, whether they can come up with the goods or not.

Solipsism --

Can be very dangerous. Projecting your reactions, responses and sensibilities onto someone who is probably far less attuned than you are. It is the mistake of expecting people to give you the same consideration, courtesy and respect that you naturally give them. They won't. Instead,we must strive to apply the dictum of "Do unto others as they do unto you." It's work for most of us and requires constant vigilance lest you slip into a comfortable illusion of everyone being like you. As has been said, certain utopias would be ideal in a nation of philosophers, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, from a Machiavellian standpoint) we are far from that point.

Self-deceit --

Another cardinal sin. We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves. The only time self-deceit should be entered into is when it's fun, and with awareness. But then, it's not self-deceit!

Herd Conformity --

That's obvious from an individualistic stance. It's all right to conform to a person's wishes, if it ultimately benefits you. But only fools follow along with the herd, letting an impersonal entity dictate to you. The key is to choose a master wisely instead of being enslaved by the whims of the many.

Lack of Perspective --

Again, this one can lead to a lot of pain for us. You must never lose sight of who and what you are, and what a threat you can be, by your very existence. We are making history right now, every day. Always keep the wider historical and social picture in mind. That is an important key to both Lesser and Greater Magic. See the patterns and fit things together as you want the pieces to fall into place. Do not be swayed by herd constraints -- know that you are working on another level entirely from the rest of the world.

Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies --

Be aware that this is one of the keys to brainwashing people into accepting something "new" and "different," when in reality it's something that was once widely accepted but is now presented in a new package. We are expected to rave about the genius of the "creator" and forget the original. This makes for a disposable society.

Counterproductive Pride --

That first word is important. Pride is great up to the point you begin to throw out the baby with the bathwater. The rule is: if it works for you, great. When it stops working for you the only way out is to say, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I wish we could compromise somehow," then do it.

Lack of Aesthetics --

This is the physical application of the Balance Factor. Aesthetics is important in Lesser Magic and should be cultivated. It is obvious that no one can collect any money off classical standards of beauty and form most of the time so they are discouraged in a consumer society, but "an eye" for for beauty, for balance, is an essential tool and must be applied for greatest magical effectiveness. It's not what's supposed to be pleasing -- it's what is. Aesthetics is a personal thing, reflective of one's own nature, but there are universally pleasing and harmonious configurations that should not be denied.

Introductory Note from John Allee, High Priest
Back in the year 1896 CE, a book entitled, Might is Right or The Survival of the Fittest by Ragnar Redbeard, LL.D. was published. The author was rumored to have been none other than red-haired poet, Arthur Desmond, born in New Zealand of an Irish father and English mother.
A racist diatribe that pays homage to social Darwinism, Might is Right is a highly inflammatory work unfit for mass consumption! It speaks to us in absolute terms which directly oppose the biblical Sermon On the Mount and incites us to violence! However... when you strip away the racist elements and accept the words at face value, it becomes a powerful tool which enables one to shatter the boundaries of social conformity and moral enslavement!
It is interesting to note that LaVey's Satanic Bible derives material from this book without so much as an acknowledgement. We find this to be a bit crude.

As you read this chapter, you will likely consider the author as one who enjoys playing the devil's advocate. This is an apt description, for the use of the polemic is very powerful and compelling - however, I must tell you; Of all the truths in the world, if you select one and follow it blindly, it becomes a falsehood and you a fanatic. There is but one absolute truth - there are no absolute truths! However, perhaps one can often arrive at that quiet place in the center, having traveled both extremes.
So, read on and May the Flames of Hell scorch and illuminate your immortal soul.

All ethics, politics and philosophies are pure assumptions, built upon assumptions. They rest on no sure basis. The chief duty of every new age is to up-raise new men to determine its liberties, to lead towards its material success - to rend (as it were) the rusty padlocks and chains of dead custom that always prevent healthy expansion. Theories and ideals and constitutions, that may have meant life and hope and freedom for our ancestors, may now mean destruction, slavery and dishonor to us. As environments change no human ideal standeth sure.
Wherever, therefore, a lie has built unto itself a throne, let it be assailed without pity and without regret, for under the dominance of a falsehood, no nation can permanently prosper. Let established sophisms be dethroned, rooted out, burnt and destroyed, for they are a standing menace to all true nobility of thought and action. Whatever alleged "truth" is proven by results to be but an empty fiction, let it be unceremoniously flung into the outer darkness, among the dead gods, dead empires, dead philosophies and other useless lumber and wreckage.
The most dangerous of all enthroned lies is the holy, the sanctified, the privileged lie -- the lie that "everybody" believes to be a model truth. It is the fruitful mother of all other popular errors and delusions. It is hydra-headed. It has a thousand roots. It is a social cancer. The lie that is known to be a lie is half eradicated, but the lie that even intelligent persons regard as a sacred fact -- the lie that has been inculcated around a mother's knee -- is more dangerous to contend against than a creeping pestilence. Popular lies have ever been the most potent enemies of personal liberty. There is only one way to deal with them. Cut them out, to the very core, just as cancers are. Exterminate them root and branch, or they will surely eat them all up. We must annihilate them, or they will us.

He who saith unto himself, "I must believe, I must not question" is not a man but a mere pusilanimous mental gelding. He who believes "because it has been handed down" is a fool in his folly. Sagacious spirits doubt all things, and hold fast only to that which is demonstrably true.
The rules in life are not to be found in Korans, Bibles, Decalogues and Constitutions, but rather the rules of decadence and death. The "law of laws" is not written in Hebrew consonants or upon tables of brass and stone, but in every man's own heart. He who obeys any standard of right and wrong, but the one set up by his own conscience, betrays himself into the hands of his enemies, who are ever laying in wait to bind him to their millstones.
"I rest my hopes on nothing" proclaimed Goethe, and masterful minds in all ages have never done otherwise. This unspoken thought gives to all truly great men their manifest superiority over the brainless, vociferating herd. The "common people" have always had to be fooled with some written or wooden or golden Idol - some constitution, declaration or gospel. Consequently, the majority of them have ever been mental thralls, living and dying in an atmosphere of strong illusion. They are befooled and hypnotized even to this hour, and a large portion of them must remain so, until time is no more. Indeed the masses of mankind are but the sediment from which all the more valuable elements have long ago been distilled. They are totally incapable of real freedom, and if it was granted to them, they would straightway vote themselves a master, or a thousand masters within twenty-four hours. Mastership is right - Mastership is natural - Mastership is eternal. But only for those who cannot overthrow it and trample it beneath their hoofs. Is it not a fact that in actual life, the ballot-box votes of ten million subjective personalities are as thistle down in the balance, when weighed against the far seeing thought and material prowess of, say, ten strong silent men?

"Love one another" you say is the supreme law, but what power has made it so? Upon what rational authority does the Gospel of Love rest? Is it even possible in practice and what would result from its universal application to active affairs? Why should I not hate mine enemies, and hunt them down like the wild beasts they are? Again, I ask why? If I "love" them does that not place me at their mercy? Is it natural for enemies to "do good" unto each other and, what is "good?" Can the torn and bloody victim "love" the blood-splashed jaws that rend him limb from limb? Are we not all predatory animals by instinct? If humans ceased wholly from preying upon each other, could they continue to exist?
"Love your enemies and do good to them that hate and despitefully use you," is the despicable philosophy of the spaniel that rolls upon its back, when kicked. Obey it, O' reader, and you and all your posterity to the tenth generation shall be irretrievably and literally damned. They shall be hewers of wood, and carriers of water, degenerates, Gibeonites. But hate your enemies with a whole heart, and if a man smite you on one cheek, smash him down; smite him hip and thigh for self-preservation is the highest law. He who turns the "other cheek" is a cowardly dog - a Christian dog.
Give him blow for blow, scorn for scorn, doom for doom; with compound interest liberally added thereunto. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, aye four-fold, a hundred-fold. Make yourself a terror to your adversary and when he goeth his way, he will possess much additional wisdom to ruminate over. Thus shall you make yourself respected in all the walks of life, and your spirit - your immortal spirit - shall live, not in an intangible paradise, but in the brains and thews of your aggressive and unconquerable sons. After all, the true proof of manhood is a splendid progeny; and it is a scientific axiom that the timid animal transmits timidity to its descendants.

The U.S. "War On Drugs" Is A Lost Cause!

SHOULD AMERICA RE-LEGALIZE DRUGS?
Satanists, like most Americans, demand to be safe at home and on the streets. Satanists would like everyone to be healthy and free of drug dependence. But drug laws don't help, they make things worse! The professional politicians scramble to make names for themselves as tough anti-drug warriors, while the experts agree that the "war on drugs" has been lost, and could never be won. The tragic victims of that war are your personal liberty and its companion, responsibility. The masses must have their opiate.
THE LESSONS OF PROHIBITION
In the 1920's, alcohol was made illegal by Prohibition. The result: Organized Crime. Criminals jumped at the chance to supply the demand for liquor. The streets became battle grounds. The criminals bought off law enforcement and judges. Adulterated booze blinded and killed people. Civil rights were trampled in the hopeless attempt to keep people from drinking.
When the American people saw what Prohibition was doing to them, they supported its repeal. When they succeeded, most states legalized liquor and the criminal gangs were out of the liquor business.
Today's war on drugs is a re-run of Prohibition. Approximately 40 million Americans are occasional, peaceful users of some illegal drug who are no threat to anyone. They are not going to stop. The laws don't and can't stop drug use.
ORGANIZED CRIME PROFITS
Whenever there is great demand for a product and government makes it illegal, a black market always appears to supply the demand. The price of the product rises dramatically and the opportunity for huge profits is obvious. The criminal gangs love the situation, making millions. They kill other drug dealers, along with innocent people caught in the crossfire, to protect their territory. They corrupt police and courts. Pushers sell adulterated dope and experimental drugs, causing injury and death. And because drugs are illegal, their victims have no recourse.
CRIME INCREASES
Half the cost of law enforcement and prisons are squandered on drug related crime. Of all drug users, a relative few are addicts who commit crimes daily to supply artificially expensive habits. They are the robbers, car thieves and burglars who make our homes and streets unsafe.
AN AMERICAN POLICE STATE
Civil liberties suffer. We are all "suspects," subject to random urine tests, highway check points and spying into our personal finances. Your property can be seized without trial, if the police merely claim you got it with drug profits. Doing business with cash makes you suspect. America is becoming a police state because of the war on drugs.
AMERICA CAN HANDLE LEGAL DRUGS
Today's illegal drugs were legal before 1914. Cocaine was even found in the original Coca-Cola recipe. Americans had few problems with cocaine, opium, heroin or marijuana. Drugs were inexpensive; crime was low. Most users handled their drug of choice and lived normal, productive lives. Addicts out of control were a tiny minority.
The first laws prohibiting drugs were racist in origin - to prevent Chinese laborers from using opium and to prevent blacks and Hispanics from using cocaine and marijuana. That was unjust and unfair, just as it is unjust and unfair to make criminals of peaceful drug users today.
People will always use alcohol, tobacco, marijuana or other drugs. Most are not addicts, they are social drinkers or occasional users. Legal drugs would be inexpensive, so even addicts could support their habits with honest work, rather than by crime. Organized crime would be deprived of its profits. The police could return to protecting us from real criminals; and there would be room enough in existing prisons for them.
TRY PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Eventually, "drugs" will become legal and mortals will take responsibility for themselves. Drug abuse is a tragedy and a sickness. Criminal laws only drive the problem underground and put money in the pockets of the criminal class.
With drugs legal, compassionate people could do more to educate and rehabilitate drug users who seek help. Drugs should be legal. Individuals have the right to decide for themselves what to put in their bodies, so long as they take responsibility for their own actions.
